Buying crypto with Mercuryo

LOBSTR integration of Mercuryo crypto onramp services allows users to buy Stellar Lumens (XLM) and USD Coin (USDC) on Stellar using a variety of payment methods.

Note: Mercuryo is currently available only on LOBSTR mobile apps.

To top up your wallet with Mercuryo: 

1. Navigate to Menu > Buy Crypto.

2. Choose the Mercuryo provider, select the token you buy, your fiat currency, enter the amount, and choose the preferred Payment method.

3. Tap 'Buy' and complete your transaction through the provider's interface.

Service availability

Mercuryo service is available in more than 130 countries, including USA. There are no region-based restrictions within the LOBSTR app. 

Currently, the Mercuryo service is not available for UK users and users from the countries listed here.

Payments

Mercuryo supports the following payment methods:

• Interac e-Transfer (Canada)

• Virtual Account (VA): BNI, BRI (Indonesia)

Note: Some issuer banks have their own terms regarding where and when the cards can be used and may decline the transaction on their side.

Among the supported fiat currencies are: the US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), Pound Sterling (GBP), United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED), Armenian Dram (AMD), Australian Dollar (AUD), Bulgarian Lev (BGN), Brazilian Real (BRL), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Swiss Franc (CHF), Colombian Peso (COP), Czech Koruna (CZK), Danish Krone (DKK), Dominican Peso (DOP), Ghanaian Cedi (GHS), Hong Kong Dollar (HKD), Hungarian Forint (HUF), Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), Israeli Shekel (ILS), Indian Rupee (INR), Icelandic Krona (ISK), Jordanian Dinar (JOD), Japanese Yen (JPY), South Korean Won (KRW), Kazakhstani Tenge (KZT), Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR), Mexican Peso (MXN), Norwegian Krone (NOK), New Zealand Dollar (NZD), Peruvian Nuevo Sol (PEN), Philippine Peso (PHP), Polish Zloty (PLN), Qatari Riyal (QAR), New Romanian Lei (RON), Swedish Krona (SEK), Singapore Dollar (SGD), Thai Baht (THB), Turkish Lira (TRY), New Taiwan Dollar (TWD), Uruguayan Peso (UYU), Vietnamese Dong (VND), South African Rand (ZAR).

Purchase limits are set by Mercuryo. The minimum payment amount is ~15 USD/EUR/GBP.

Once you’ve specified the payment amount in LOBSTR, you will be redirected to Mercuryo to complete the payment procedure. 

First-time transactions may take between a few minutes and a few hours, depending on additional verification that Mercuryo may require.

You may be required to complete a KYC (identity verification) process on Mercuryo's side, depending on the amount you buy. 

Note:

• The rate shown in LOBSTR is approximate and for reference only. The provider will display the latest rate before you proceed with the payment.
• To successfully purchase USD Coin (Stellar), your wallet must have a USDC asset trustline. LOBSTR will prompt you to add the trustline as you proceed with the purchase. Please make sure not to remove the trustline until the transaction is fully completed – otherwise, the funds may not reach your wallet, and you'll need to contact the support team for assistance.

Fees

The service fee depends on the selected payment method and amount and can be as low as 4% per transaction.

Mercuryo will display the full fee details at their page before you proceed with the payment.

Depending on the base currency of your banking account or credit card, additional conversion fees may apply at the time of the payment by your bank.

Cashback 

During the Mercuryo and LOBSTR cashback campaign, you can buy USDC and receive 5% cashback on your purchase, paid directly to your wallet in USDC.

Cashback eligibility:

• USDC purchase is made via Mercuryo through LOBSTR on the Stellar network. 
• Mercuryo service is available in your country. The UK and the countries listed here are excluded.

Cashback rules:

• Maximum 50 USDC total cashback per user for the campaign.
• 5% cashback, minimum purchase 5 USDC. 
• Cashback can accumulate across separate eligible intervals. 
• Cashback applies to one transaction per one-hour interval.
• Payouts are issued daily on business days.

Example: If you buy 50 USDC, then another 50 USDC after one hour, you receive a total of 5 USDC cashback.
