Managing multiple Stellar wallets on LOBSTR

When you create an account with LOBSTR and choose to create a Stellar wallet, you are given a Recovery Phrase, and a wallet is automatically generated based on that Phrase. This is your 'default' wallet which most users have.


Starting with version 11.0.0 of mobile apps, LOBSTR users can now add and manage multiple additional Stellar wallets under one LOBSTR account. This feature is coming to the LOBSTR website soon - stay tuned.


You will need to have your Recovery Phrase connected to your LOBSTR account to access the multi-wallet feature. 


Note: If your Recovery Phrase is not connected, you can connect your Recovery Phrase to your account in the 'Wallets' section of the 'Settings' screen. This one-time process securely stores your Recovery Phrase with LOBSTR and allows you to access the multi-wallet feature


The same as the 'default' wallet that was generated for you during the onboarding process, each additional Stellar wallet you add to your account is cryptographically generated based on your Recovery Phrase and will be associated with that same Phrase. The Recovery Phrase can be used to restore access to all wallets associated with that Phrase.

Once you have multiple wallets on your account, you can switch between them and use each wallet independently to interact with the LOBSTR application and make transactions. 



How do I add a new Stellar wallet to my LOBSTR account?


1. Tap your current active Stellar wallet at the top of the 'Home' screen:


2. Tap 'Add New Wallet':



3. If the Recovery Phrase is not connected to your LOBSTR account, you will need to connect your Recovery phrase first > tap 'Continue';



4. Enter your Recovery Phrase > tap 'Connect Recovery Phrase':



Note: You can also add a new Stellar wallet to your LOBSTR account from LOBSTR 'Settings' > 'Wallets' > 'Manage Stellar wallets' > tap the 'Add New Wallet' button.



How do I view Stellar wallets added to my LOBSTR account and switch between them?


Option 1


To view your added Stellar wallets and switch between them from the 'Home' screen on LOBSTR mobile apps, do the following:


1. Go to the 'Home' screen >  tap your current active Stellar wallet:


2. Stellar wallets added to your LOBSTR account will be displayed on the 'Choose wallet' screen:



3. You can switch to the preferred Stellar wallet just by tapping the wallet you'd like to use:

4. To manage the Stellar wallets added to your LOBSTR account (set federation address, copy public key, etc.) tap 'Manage Wallets' and tap ⋮ for the wallet you are looking for:



Option 2


To view your added Stellar wallets and switch between them from 'Settings' on LOBSTR mobile apps, do the following:


1. Go to 'Settings' > tap 'Wallets':



2. Tap 'Manage Stellar wallets':


3. You can switch to the preferred Stellar wallet by simply tapping on it in the list of wallets, or tapping  and selecting 'Switch to use this wallet' in the list of options:



Important notes:

  • The limit for adding Stellar wallets is set to 20 wallets for one LOBSTR account.
  • There is currently no option to delete a specific wallet you added to your account. If you'd like to remove all connected wallets at once, select  'Remove connect Stellar wallets' option in the 'Wallets' section of the 'Settings' screen.
  • Multi-wallet feature is available only for LOBSTR accounts using the on-device key storage system. Users with a deprecated key storage system (those who connected their wallets to LOBSTR before September 1, 2020) will need to migrate to the new on-device key storage to access the multi-wallet feature.
  • It is only possible to use the multi-wallet feature with wallets created based on the user's Recovery Phrase at this time. Future app updates will allow users to import standalone wallet keypairs to their accounts, and use these keypairs to transact on the network using LOBSTR.
