LOBSTR signer extension: How to sign outgoing transactions from connected services

Modified on Mon, 24 Jun at 11:01 AM

The LOBSTR signer extension is a browser extension that enables LOBSTR users to securely connect to other services on the Stellar network using their wallets. It works by sending all transactions from a connected web service to your LOBSTR mobile app for signature. When you receive a push notification with a transaction request in your LOBSTR app, you can review the full transaction details and decide whether to confirm or reject the transaction.

The extension ensures secure transmission of transactions between the LOBSTR app and third-party services using an encrypted connection. Your private key is stored fully encrypted on your mobile device and is never exposed to the connected service, thereby providing maximum security.

If you haven't connected your Stellar wallet to the LOBSTR signer extension yet, please review this article for guidance.

Here are the few steps needed to sign outgoing transactions (e.g. from StellarTerm):

1. After a connection to the Signer extension is established, choose LOBSTR wallet to log in to StellarTerm.

2. Approve the connection request.

3. Make any transaction via the StellarTerm interface (e.g. swap).

4. Open your LOBSTR mobile app and confirm the signature request from the LOBSTR signer extension. Done!

Every time you perform an action with your wallet, such as initiating a payment or creating an offer, you will be sent a push notification to the device from which the connection was established. You will then be prompted to sign the transaction request in the LOBSTR app. This ensures that your private key remains secure within the LOBSTR app and doesn't need to be shared with any other service.
