How to swap assets on the XRP Ledger or across chains with LOBSTR

LOBSTR allows you to exchange assets from your XRP Ledger wallet in two ways:

• XRP Ledger — swap XRP and tokens directly on the XRP Ledger using available on-chain liquidity.
• Cross-Chain — exchange XRP and receive another asset on a different supported blockchain.

Swap assets on the XRP Ledger

1. Open Swap from the Home screen, side menu, or asset details screen, then select the XRP Ledger tab.

2. Choose the assets under You sell and You buy. XRP and RLUSD are selected by default, but you can change either asset.

3. Enter an amount:

• Enter the You sell amount to specify exactly how much you want to spend.
• Enter the You buy amount to specify exactly how much you want to receive.

4. If the asset you want to receive has not been enabled in your wallet, tap Add [asset] to view the rate and approve the trustline.
 

Note: 

• Make sure your wallet has enough available XRP for the XRP Ledger account reserve and network fees.
• On XRP Ledger Mainnet, adding a trustline normally increases the account reserve requirement by 0.2 XRP. The reserved XRP remains in your wallet but is not available to spend while the trustline exists.
• Reserve requirements may change over time. See the official XRP Ledger documentation for current values.

5. LOBSTR will find an available exchange route and display the current rate. Rates are based on the liquidity available on the XRP Ledger and may change before the swap is confirmed.

6. Review the slippage tolerance. Depending on the amount you entered, the confirmation screen will show either:

• Minimum received — when the amount you sell is fixed.
• Maximum sold — when the amount you receive is fixed.

7. Tap Swap and review the quote and transaction details.

8. If the quote expires, tap Update price to request a new rate.

9. Confirm the swap and wait for it to be completed on the XRP Ledger.

Fees for XRP Ledger swaps

A fee is automatically factored into the exchange rate when buying an asset through an XRP Ledger swap. This fee supports the ongoing development of LOBSTR and depends on the category of the asset you buy.

The following fees apply to XRP Ledger swaps on LOBSTR:

• for Curated assets, including XRP: 0.6%
• for all other assets that are not on the Curated list: 1%

The applicable fee is determined by the asset selected under You buy and is included in the exchange rate. You will see the fee percentage on the Confirm swap screen before confirming the transaction.

These fees apply only to swaps performed under the XRP Ledger tab.

LOBSTR reserves the right to change the swap fee at any time.

Why might an XRP Ledger swap be unavailable?

LOBSTR may display “Swap is not available for the specified assets and amounts” when:

• there is not enough liquidity for the selected asset pair;
• the entered amount is too small or too large for the available routes;
• an issued asset has not been added to your XRP Ledger wallet;
• the wallet does not have enough available XRP for the account reserve or transaction fees.

Steps to take:

• Try changing the amount or selecting another asset pair.
• Verify the asset issuer.
• Asset codes on the XRP Ledger are not always unique. Different issuers can create tokens with the same asset code.
• Before adding or swapping a token, verify its issuer, associated domain, and other asset details shown in LOBSTR.

Make a cross-chain swap

Cross-chain swaps allow you to exchange XRP from your XRP Ledger wallet and receive another asset on a different supported blockchain.

Cross-chain swaps are powered by LOBSTR’s integration with NEAR Intents.

1. Open Swap from the Home screen, side menu, or XRP asset details screen, then select the Cross-Chain tab.

2. Select the destination blockchain and the asset you want to receive.

3. Enter the amount and review the slippage tolerance.

4. Enter the recipient address on the destination network, or select your wallet from the list if it has already been added to LOBSTR.

Carefully verify the destination network and address. We recommend using a self-custody wallet that supports the selected asset and network.

Avoid exchange deposit addresses and wallets that require an additional memo or destination tag.

5. Review the quote and recipient details, then confirm the transaction.

6. Follow the transaction status in LOBSTR while the swap is being processed.

The final amount received may differ slightly from the initial estimate because rates and available liquidity can change while the transaction is being processed.

Fees for cross-chain swaps

Cross-chain swaps use a separate fee model and are not covered by the Curated and Default categories used for XRP Ledger swaps.

The following fees apply:

• Service fee: 0.5%
• Provider fee: 0.5%

The total fee is 1% of the amount under You send. Both fees are displayed in XRP and are included in the estimated You get amount.

The exact fee amounts are shown on the transaction preview screen before confirmation.

LOBSTR reserves the right to change cross-chain swap fees at any time.

Transaction issues and other requests

If a cross-chain swap cannot be completed, the refundable funds will be returned automatically to the XRP Ledger wallet used to send the XRP.

You can track the swap status by tapping Check Transaction Status in the success pop-up in LOBSTR, or at explorer.near-intents.org by entering the Deposit address.
